We will head to London on May 23rd and spend a few days visiting some of the museums, sites, and shops in the area. There are many opportunities to develop your visual literacy skills in London, from the signage, to the artwork in museums, to the design of interior spaces in buildings across the city. The picture above was taken in Kew Gardens, just outside of London. It is a huge park full of interesting buildings, gardens, and places to eat. The picture to the left was taken in Chiswick, on the west side of London.
London is filled with historic buildings and interesting places to see and photograph. One of the more interesting historic places that we plan to visit is the Tower of London. It has served as a royal residence and as a prison, and was the site of several famous executions. (Some people claim it is haunted by Ann Boleyn and Henry VI.) Although the Tower was founded in 1066, the White Tower was completed around 1078 by William the Conqueror. We plan to visit the Tower and the adjacent historic sites.
